John Allen Wisden Nicks (born April 22, 1929 in Brighton ) is a retired British figure skater and figure skating coach.

His figure skating partner was his sister Jennifer Nicks . Together they became British champions six times in a row from 1948 to 1953. Her trainers were Eric W. Hudson and Gladys M. Hogg. They made their first international appearance at the European Championships in 1947 , where they finished sixth. A year later she made her debut at World Championships and Olympic Games . You finished eighth both times. The Nicks won their first medals in 1950 with bronze at the European Championships in Oslo and silver at the World Championships in London . In 1951 they were third at both the European Championship and the World Championship . In 1952 the British were runner-up in Europe behind Ria Baran and Paul Falk . At the World Championships , as in the previous year, they won the bronze medal behind the Germans and Karol and Peter Kennedy from the USA. At the Olympic Games in Oslo , they were fourth to miss a medal. Following the resignation of Falk's and Kennedy's John and Jennifer Nicks were in 1953 in Dortmund European champion and in Davos also world champion . They beat the Hungarians Marianne and László Nagy , who were placed in front of them at the Olympic Games last year. After their world championship title, they ended their amateur careers and switched to professionals.

Nicks later went to the USA via South Africa and has lived in Los Angeles since 1961 . He became a successful trainer. His students included Peggy Fleming , Tai Babilonia & Randy Gardner , Tiffany Chin , Christopher Bowman , Jenni Meno & Todd Sand , Kristi Yamaguchi & Rudy Galindo and Sasha Cohen .

John Nicks was inducted into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2000 .
