Han Cong ( Chinese  韓 聰 , Pinyin Hán Cōng ; * probably on August 6, 1992 in Harbin , Heilongjiang ) is a Chinese figure skater who starts in pair skating .

Together with his skating partner Sui Wenjing he is the world champion of 2017 and the Four Continents champion of 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017th

Career

Han Cong has been running alongside Sui Wenjing since 2007 , both of whom had no previous pair skating experience. They were inspired by their compatriots Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao when they watched them on television at the 2002 Olympic Games . Her trainer is Bo Luan , who, together with partner Yao Bin, was the first Chinese participant in world championships in pair skating in 1980. Sui and Han have already shown four-fold salchows and four-fold twists in competition.

Sui and Han became junior world champions in 2010, 2011 and 2012 .

In 2012 they won their first senior tournament with the Four Continents Championships . They achieved personal bests in both segments and overall performance. In the latter, they broke through the 200-point mark with 201.83 points.

They also made their debut in 2012 in Nice at World Championships and finished ninth.

Date of birth controversy

Han Cong's date of birth is controversial. The date of birth August 6, 1992 is registered with the International Skating Union . However, a Chinese website states March 1989 as the month of birth. That would make him too old to take part in international junior competitions in the 2010/11 season. The date of birth of his partner Sui Wenjing is also controversial. At ISU, the date of birth is July 18, 1995. However, on the Chinese website in question, May 7, 1997 is given as the date of birth. However, this would not have allowed her to compete internationally in the junior division in either the 2009/2010 season or the 2010/2011 season. In both years, the couple Sui Wenjing and Han Cong became junior world champions. In this case, the couple would not have been eligible to compete in the senior division in the 2010/2011 season, including the Grand Prix final, in which the couple won the bronze medal.
