John Martin Baldwin, Jr. (born October 18, 1973 in Dallas , Texas , USA ) is an American figure skater . Currently, he starts with Rena Inoue in pairs skating . Both are a couple in their private lives. Rena Inoue and John Baldwin Jr. are two-time American pair skating champions.

Career

John Baldwin comes from a skating family. His father, John Baldwin Sr., started as an individual runner in the 1960s . His brother Don Baldwin also competed in men's figure skating. John Baldwin Jr. was also initially a single runner.

On the advice of his father, he switched to pair skating with Rena Inoue.

Rena Inoue and John Baldwin Jr. are the first sports couple to perfectly show a triple throwing axel in competition. They achieved this for the first time at the US Championships in 2006 and were able to repeat this element in the short freestyle for the 2006 Winter Olympics . The couple is coached by Peter Oppegard . John Baldwin starts for the club "All Year FSC". He lives in Santa Monica , California .
