Peter Allen Oppegard (born August 23, 1959 ) is a former American figure skater who started in pair skating and is an active figure skating coach.

At first he started in pair skating alongside Vicki Heasley, from 1985 Jill Watson became his figure skating partner. In 1985, 1987 and 1988 they became US champions . In the period from 1985 to 1988 they took part in world championships . They won their only world championship medal with bronze in 1987 in Cincinnati behind the Soviet couples Yekaterina Gordejewa and Sergei Grinkow as well as Jelena Walowa and Oleg Wassiljew . The same result achieved Oppegard and Watson at the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary .

After finishing his career in 1988, Oppegard became a coach. His students have won ten national championship titles so far. Since October 2010 he has been training Kim Yu-na at the East West Ice Palace in California .

Oppegard is married to Karen Kwan, the sister of Michelle Kwan . The couple have two daughters.
