Kyoko Ina ( Japanese 伊奈 恭子 , Kyōko Ina ; born October 11, 1972 in Tokyo Prefecture , Japan ) is a former Japanese -American figure skater who started in pair skating .
Ina was born in Tokyo Prefecture but grew up in New York. She began ice skating on the Rockefeller Center ice rink when she was four years old . She competed in the junior division for Japan, but then decided on the USA. In 1990 she became the US individual junior champion. A year later, she formed a couple with Jason Dungjen . They were trained by Peter Burrows and Marylynn Gelderman . 1994 to 1996 Ina and Dungjen were national runners-up and in 1997 and 1998 finally US champions . From 1994 to 1997 they took part in world championships . Her best result was fourth place at the 1997 World Cup in Lausanne . Ina and Dungjen played two Olympic Games . In 1994 in Lillehammer they finished ninth and in 1998 in Nagano they finished fourth. After that, the figure skating couple split up.
From 1998 John Zimmerman became Ina's partner. They trained with Tamara Moskwina and her husband Igor Moskwin in Hackensack , New Jersey . From 2000 to 2002 Zimmerman and Ina became US champions in pair skating . In 2000 they won the silver medal at the four continents championship and in 2001 the bronze medal. Her greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the 2002 World Cup in Nagano . The 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics finished the pair in fifth place. In 2003 Ina and Zimmerman switched to the professionals and ran at the ice revue Stars on Ice.
