Sherwin Campbell Badger (born August 29, 1901 in Boston , Massachusetts , † April 8, 1972 in Sherborn , Massachusetts) was an American figure skater who started in single and pair skating .

Badger was American figure skating champion from 1920 to 1924 , four times ahead of his Boston competitor Nathaniel Niles . As an individual runner, however, he never took part in world championships . His only major international appearance was his participation in the 1928 Olympic Games in St. Moritz . There he placed eleventh, one place behind the best American Roger Turner .

In pair skating, Badger won the US championship title from 1930 to 1932 on the side of Beatrix Loughran . With her he played three world championships . In 1928 they were fifth and in 1930 and 1932 they won the bronze medal. They also took part in two Olympic Games . In 1928 in St. Moritz they placed fourth and in 1932 in their native Lake Placid they won silver behind the French Andrée and Pierre Brunet .

During his active athletic career, Badger studied at Harvard and graduated from university in 1923. That year he began his professional career in business with the United Fruit Company, and in 1925 he became an editor for the Wall Street Journal and Barrons. He joined the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1940 and stayed there, later as Vice President and Director, until his retirement in 1972. Badger was also president of the national figure skating federation in the 1930s.
