Chris Christenson

Chris Christenson (* 1875 in Norway ; † 1943 in Saint Paul , Minnesota , USA ) was an American figure skater who started in a single run .

Christenson and his family emigrated to the United States from Norway when he was eight years old. First they lived in Wisconsin and then in Saint Paul , Minnesota , where he later started for the local figure skating club Twin City FSC. Christenson began figure skating in 1914, only at the age of 39. In the period from 1920 to 1926 he took part in national championships six times . In 1923 he was runner-up behind Sherwin Badger , in 1924 third and in 1926 he was finally champion in Boston , ahead of local hero Nathaniel Niles . At the time of his championship, he was 51 years old, which made him the oldest U.S. figure skating champion in men's singles in history.
