Timothy Lyle Wood (born June 21, 1948 in Highland Park , Michigan ) is a retired American figure skater who started in a single run . He is the world champion of 1969 and 1970 .

In 1968 he was vice world champion behind Emmerich Danzer and won silver at the Olympic Games in Grenoble behind Wolfgang Schwarz . After the resignation of the two Austrians, he dominated the men's competition for the next two years and became world champion in 1969 and 1970 .

In most of the results lists he is listed as Tim Wood. His trainer was Ronald Baker . He trained first at the Detroit Skating Club and since 1969 at the Broadmoor Skating Club in Colorado Springs . After his amateur career , he became a coach. He works in California and occasionally trained Elvis Stojko, among others .
