Gordon McKellen

Gordon Riley "Gordie" McKellen Jr. (born August 26, 1953 in Reading , Pennsylvania ) is a former American figure skater who started in a single run .

McKellen's path to becoming a figure skater was prepared early on by his father Gordon "Bud" McKellen, who was part of the famous figure skating duo "McKellen Brothers" in the 1940s. Gordon was American champion from 1973 to 1975 . He participated in all world championships from 1971 to 1975 . In his first world championship he was ninth and improved by one place every year, so that he had his best result in his last world championship in 1975 with fifth place. At his only Olympic Games in 1972 in Sapporo, he was tenth.

McKellen was one of the first to jump a triple Axel , but not in the competition, but only in the show.

He married the American figure skater Kath Malmberg . After retiring from competitive sports, McKellen toured with Toller Cranston's The Ice Show .
