After he landed on the podium five times in a row at the World Championships in 1913 , 1914 , 1922 , 1923 , 1924 despite a seven-year break from World War II , but never won the title, he was world champion four times in a row from 1925 to 1928, always in front of a fellow countryman; in his first title before Fritz Kachler , which he was able to beat for the first time in a world championship, twice before Otto Preissecker and the last time before the later series world champion Karl Schäfer . Böckl won two Olympic silver, in 1924 in Chamonix and in 1928 in St. Moritz . He lost both times to the three-time Olympic champion Gillis Grafström . In the period from 1922 to 1928 Böckl was European champion six times , in 1922 , 1923 , 1925 , 1926 , 1927 and 1928 .
