Still starting for the Soviet Union , he won the Junior World Championship in 1992 . In 1993 , when he participated in the European Championship for the first time, he surprisingly became European Champion with two left ice skates, as his right ice skate broke and he could not find an adequate replacement. His compatriot Vyacheslav Sahorodnyuk lent him a skate so that he could walk at all. Seven years later at the European Figure Skating Championships in 2000 , he won his second and last medal at the European Championships with bronze . He was unable to build on these successes at world championships , his best placement there was eleventh place in 1999 . Dmytrenko took part in the Olympic Games twice, in 1998 in Nagano he was 14 and in 2002 in Salt Lake City 18.
Dmytrenko was trained by Galina Kukhar . He is currently working as a trainer for Alexei Bychenko . He is also an official at the ISU . In 2001 he married Oksana Maslowa.
