Otto Preissecker (also Otto Preißecker; born August 3, 1898 in Vienna , † May 30, 1963 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian figure skater and dentist .

Live and act

Otto Preissecker served two years in the mountain artillery , most recently as a lieutenant in the reserve . He completed medical studies in Vienna in 1923 with a doctorate . In 1924 he began studying dentistry with Rudolf Weiser and Hans Pichler . He then stayed as a demonstrator and assistant doctor, then as a university assistant at the Dental Institute.

In addition to his job, Preissecker devoted himself to figure skating . He won bronze at the 1925 World Cup . In 1926 and 1927 he was vice world champion behind his compatriot Willy Böckl . At the European Championships in 1926 , he was also runner-up behind Böckl. In 1925 and 1928 he won bronze. In addition, he was in 1926, 1927 and 1928 winner of the Austrian figure skating championship.

In pair skating, Preissecker competed at the 1929 World Cup alongside Gisela Hochhaltinger , and they finished fourth. In their only appearance at the European Championships in 1930 they won the bronze medal. In 1929 and 1930 they became Austrian runners-up .

In 1938 Preissecker completed his habilitation with the thesis anatomical-histological examinations of the jaw joints of dogs in normal and after raised bite and in 1939 he became a university lecturer in Vienna. From 1942 to 1945 he was head of the Polyclinic for Dental and Maxillofacial Diseases in Vienna and head of the dental conservation department at the Dental University Institute. In 1944 he was appointed adjunct professor . He could no longer accept a call as a full professor at the German University in Prague . In 1952 he was appointed associate professor for dentistry in Innsbruck. He was director of the University Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic Innsbruck and in 1960 he became a full university professor. In 1963 he retired and died shortly afterwards on May 30, 1963.

Preissecker worked on fixed and removable dentures and on materials science , in particular on metallurgy . He dealt with the splinting of teeth and conservative dentistry.
