Henning Grenander (* 1874 ; † 1958 ) was a Swedish figure skater who started in a single run . He is the world champion from 1898 .

He stepped into the spotlight for the first time at an international championship in 1893 when he came second behind the Austrian Eduard Engelmann at the European championships in Berlin . This competition went down in history as the first major judges' scandal and was canceled because there were disputes about the ratings and the result was therefore initially considered to be "undecided". Only months after the competition, after many protests and negotiations, the winners were announced by the German and Austrian Ice Skating Associations , a unique event in the history of ice skating.

At the World Cup in London in 1898 Grenander was able to win his only big title. He was the first Swede to become world champion , thus establishing a long tradition of success for Swedish figure skaters that lasted until World War II . When he won, Grenander relegated the favorite titleholders of 1897 , Gustav Hügel , and 1896 , Gilbert Fuchs , to second and third place.
