European figure skating championship 1893
The 3rd European Figure Skating Championship took place on January 21 and 22, 1893 in Berlin . The results of the European Championship were canceled by the ISU Congress in 1895.
This competition went down in history as the first major judges' scandal and was canceled because there were disputes about the ratings and the result was therefore initially considered to be "undecided". Only months after the competition, after many protests and negotiations , the German and Austrian Ice Skating Associations announced the winners, a unique event in the history of ice skating. The first European championship in 1891 was organized by the German and Austrian Ice Skating Associations , the International Ice Skating Union did not act as an organizer until it was founded in 1892 and redefined the rules. In the results lists of the ISU, however , the title fights of 1893 and their winners are recorded (see "75 years of European and World's Championships in Figure Skating" , published by the ISU).
