The 28th World Figure Skating Championships took place from February 3rd to 5th, 1930 in New York ( USA ). These were the first world championships where all competitions were held in the same place and at the same time, and the first outside of Europe. The judges were also the same in all competitions.

After two silver medals, Karl Schäfer won his first of a total of seven titles in a row.
