The 7th World Figure Skating Championship took place on February 13, 1902 in London ( Great Britain ).
Again there was only one competition for men, but Madge Syers was also a woman. This was possible because the ISU rules did not explicitly stipulate that only men were allowed to compete. The following year the rules were changed and a separate competition for women was introduced; however, this was not carried out for the first time until 1906 .
Madge Syers came second in the men's competition and Ulrich Salchow , who was enthusiastic about her, presented her with the gold medal he had just won.
