The 44th World Figure Skating Championships took place from February 8 to 15, 1953 in Davos ( Switzerland ).
In the men's competition, Hayes Alan Jenkins continued the legacy of his compatriot Richard Button and thus the dominance of the Americans by winning his first of four titles in a row. In the women's competition, Tenley Albright was the first time an American woman won the title.
