Elemér Terták started like Tibor von Földváry for the club BKE (Skating Club Budapest) . In 1936 he took part in the Winter Olympics and took eighth place there, with one of the judges even seeing him third. At the World Figure Skating Championships he achieved his best result in 1937 by winning the bronze medal, in 1935 , 1938 and 1939 he was sixth and in 1934 he finished seventh. He achieved similar successes at European Championships , where he won bronze medals in both 1934 and 1937 , two fifth places in 1936 and 1938 , and a seventh place in 1935 round off his track record.
In the 1970s he acted as a referee at world figure skating championships.
