Lily Kronberger (born November 12, 1890 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary ; † May 21, 1974 there ) was a Hungarian figure skater who started in a single run . She is the world champion from 1908 to 1911 . She won the first world title in sport for Hungary.
In the years 1908 to 1910 Kronberger was Hungarian champion, but in the men's competition, as there was no women's competition at that time.
In her first two world championships in 1906 and 1907 , the first in which there was ever a women's competition, she reached third place behind the British Madge Syers and the Austrian Jenny Herz . In Opava she elected to in 1908 for the first time to the world champion and was the title until her retirement from biathlon (for marriage) in 1911 to defend every year. In 1908 and 1910 it won ahead of Elsa Rendschmidt from the German Empire . When she last won the title in Vienna in 1911 , she made a premiere by becoming the first figure skater ever to add music to her freestyle , which Zoltán Kodály had recommended to her.
In 1983, Kronberger, who was Jewish, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Jewish Sports and finally into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1997 .
