Opika von Méray Horváth , known in Hungary as Méray-Horváth Zsófia , (born December 30, 1889 in Arad , Austria-Hungary , † April 25, 1977 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian figure skater who started in a single run . She is the world champion from 1912 to 1914 .
Méray Horváth was born into an intellectual family in the Banat . She was a member of the Budapesti Korcsolyázó Egylet (Budapest Figure Skating Club ). She was the second Hungarian world class figure skater, after Lily Kronberger . At the World Cup in Vienna in 1911 , she was second when Kronberger won the title. It was the first double victory for a nation in women's competition at World Figure Skating Championships . Then Méray Horváth was able to win the title three times in a row. In 1912 she won in Davos in front of the British Dorothy Greenhough-Smith , in Stockholm in 1913 in front of the British Phyllis Johnson and in 1914 in St. Moritz in front of the Austrian Angela Hanka . The First World War ended her career. Later she worked as a language teacher.
