Over the years, the extensive sports facility was converted into a pure football stadium through several modifications. It is located in the middle of a residential area in the southwest of the city. The Beerschot AC football club played its home games here. It is also known under the name Kiel Stadium or Beerschot Stadium . Today's audience capacity is 12,771 for league games and 12,206 for international games. In 2001/02 there was the last major work on the stadium when the standing in the stands were converted into seats. This reduced the capacity of the venue by 2,000 seats.

In 2013 the insolvent Beerschot AC became part of the FCO Beerschot Wilrijk (Koninklijke Football Club Olympia Beerschot Wilrijk).
