The Komazawa Stadium ( Japanese 駒沢オリンピック公園総合運動場陸上競技場 Komazawa Orimpikku Kōen Sogo Undōjō Rikujō Kyōgijō , German , Common sports field and sports stadium Komazawa Olympic Park ' ) is a football stadium with an eight-lane track and field facility in the district Setagaya the Japanese capital Tokyo in the same prefecture . It is part of the Komazawa Olympic Park and is currently used mainly for amateur and women's football games , but also for rugby and American football games, as well as track and field events. The sports facility now offers 20,010 spaces, including 20 wheelchair-accessible spaces.

An Olympic park for the 1940 Summer Olympics was to be built on the site . Due to the Second World War , the games did not take place. 24 years later, Komazawa Stadium was home to some of the preliminary round matches of the 1964 Summer Olympics soccer tournament . Some games of the J1 League , J2 League , the J. League Cup and the Kaiser Cup (including the finals in 1965 and 1966 ) were played here. However, the sports facility does not have a permanent home team. The stadium has been preserved in its original form without the floodlights . Part of the main stand is covered by a roof in the shape of petals.
