The Hachiōji Velodrome ( Japanese 八 王子 自 転 車 競技場 ) was a temporary bicycle stadium in the Japanese city of Hachiōji .
history
Since there was no cycling stadium in Japan that complied with the Olympic Statutes, one had to be built for the 1964 Summer Olympics . It was decided to build a temporary velodrome. There were some possible locations, but the choice because of its proximity to fell Hachiōji-round course , where competitions in road cycling took place on Hachiōji . In addition, accommodations for the cyclists were built on the area so that they were spared a journey of around 43 kilometers from Tokyo .
The stadium had 4122 seats. The track was 400 meters long and 7.428 meters wide on the straight sections. The maximum width of the curve section was 5.303 meters.
Today the Ryonan Park is located on the site of the Velodrome .
