Hachiōji circuit

The Hachiōji circuit was a circuit for both road cycling competitions at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . The road race and the team time trial took place here. The circuit ran differently for both competitions.

Road race route

The circuit for the road race was a total of 24.354 kilometers and had to be driven eight times. This resulted in a total length of 194.832 kilometers. The start was in front of the Takao station , from there the course ran on national road 20 in a north-east direction. After about four kilometers it went north, the Asakawa was crossed. Then the athletes turned left onto National Road 411 and followed it to Takiyama Park , where the course turned north and again headed south at kilometer 11, where the drivers returned to National Road 411. After about three more kilometers, the course changed its route to the south and ran straight through Hachiōji back to Takao station.

Team time trial route

The circuit for the team time trial was 36.631 kilometers long and had to be driven through three times. This resulted in a total length of 109.893 kilometers. As with the road race, the start and finish were in front of Takao train station . As in the road race, the route initially ran on National Road 20 in a northeastern direction. After the athletes crossed the Owada Bridge , the course went through Hino , where they passed the Hino train station and crossed the Tama over the Hino Bridge . Now the course turned to the left and leads straight through Tachikawa and Akishima until they turned left after 19 kilometers and crossed the Tama again over the Haijima Bridge . From then on, the course was about 5 kilometers on national road 411 . After about 26.5 kilometers, the course changed its route to the south and ran across Hachiōji back to Takao station.
