Hino is a through station on the JR East operated Chūō rapid transit line from Tokyo via Shinjuku and Hachiōji to Takao , whose tracks in this section are identical to those of the Chūō main line . Local trains usually run every five to ten minutes during the day, and an express train stops two or three times an hour . During rush hour there is a two-minute train sequence . The local train Musashino ( む さ し の ) runs three times a day initially from Hachiōji to Kunitachi , then reaches the Musashino line via a freight branch and travels it to Ōmiya .

investment

The station is on the border between the districts of Hinohonmachi and Sakaemachi, about half a kilometer south of the bridge over the Tama . The north-south-facing facility is elevated on a dam that compensates for the difference in height between the river plain and the Hino plateau, and has two tracks on a covered central platform . This is connected by a passenger tunnel with the station building on the east side and with the western station forecourt, where there is a connection to a dozen bus routes of the companies Nishi Tōkyō Bus and Keiō Dentetsu Bus .

In the 2018 fiscal year, an average of 27,257 passengers used the station every day. This is the lowest value of any train station on the Chūō rapid transit line between Tokyo and Takao.

history

Hino train station in 1937

The private railway company Kōbu Tetsudō opened the Hiro station on January 6, 1890, just five months after the Tachikawa - Hachiōji section was put into operation . Local volunteers paid for part of the construction costs. The KOBU tetsudō was born on October 1, 1906 along with the station nationalized . When the line was expanded to two tracks, the Ministry of Railways moved the station around 300 meters north to its current location. The tracks of the former station have been preserved and are now used for tests by the Railway Technical Research Institute . On December 1, 1959, the Japanese State Railways stopped handling goods. As part of the privatization of the state railway, the station passed into the possession of the new company JR East on April 1, 1987 .
