The Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center is a stadium in Qinhuangdao , a city in northern China 's Hebei Province . It was built on the occasion of the 2008 Summer Olympics , when it was used as a sports facility for soccer games .

The stadium was built between May 2002 and July 30, 2004. This made it the first football stadium for the Olympic Games to be completed. It seats 33,572 spectators. 0.2 percent of the places are reserved for the disabled . It is protected by a curved white roof structure reminiscent of sails .

Since its completion, several international friendly matches have been played in the stadium.
