The Craven Cottage is the football stadium of the English football club Fulham , whose team is therefore also called "The Cottagers". It is located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham on the banks of the Thames . It has 25,700 seats in four grandstands: the Putney End , the Hammersmith End , the Johnny Haynes Stand and the Riverside Stand .

history

The first game at Craven Cottage took place back in 1896. Between May 2002 and June 2004 the stadium was renovated. The best way to get to the stadium is via London Underground . It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Putney Bridge Station on the District Line .

In its history, the stadium was also used for rugby games. It was home to the professional rugby league team of Fulhams, the Fulham Rugby League Club (1980-84).

On May 26, 2011 the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League was played in Craven Cottage , which Olympique Lyon won 2-0 against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam .

Fulham FC is currently planning to expand the stadium to 29,600 seats. A new riverside stand is to be built for this. The club received planning approval in March 2018.
