The Stade Bergeyre was a football stadium in the Arrondissement des Buttes-Chaumont (19th arrondissement) in the northeast of the French capital Paris .

history

The Stade Bergeyre was built in the 1910s with financial support from Jacques Sigrand and opened on August 18, 1918. It was named after the rugby player Robert Bergeyre, who previously spent four years in World War I had fallen.

The facility was mainly used for soccer games and was the home ground of Olympique Paris . Furthermore, games in rugby or athletics competitions were played in the stadium. As part of the 1924 Summer Olympics , several football and rugby games were held in the Stade Bergeyre. The organizing committee stated that the capacity was 10,455. Two years later the stadium had to be torn down and made way for living space.
