The Piscine Georges-Vallerey (formerly: Piscine des Tourelles ) is a swimming pool in the 20th arrondissement of the French capital Paris .

history

The swimming pool was built for the 1924 Summer Olympics and was the swimming center of the French Swimming Association. During the games found Piscine des Tourelles the competitions in swimming , water jumping , water polo and swimming in the modern pentathlon instead. After the games, numerous national championships, the European water polo championship in 1931 and the European swimming championships in 1931 took place in the pool .

After the death of the swimmer Georges Vallerey in December 1954, the Paris city council proposed that the pool be renamed. On March 4, 1959, this proposal was implemented and the name was changed to Piscine Georges-Vallerey .

Between 1986 and 1989 the bathroom was renovated according to plans by the architect Roger Taillibert .

Since the renovation, the pool has an Olympic swimming pool (50 mx 21 m), which can be divided into two swimming pools of 25 m or 37.5 m and 12.5 m each using a movable partition. Swimming and water polo competitions can be held in the pool. The swimming pool has a total capacity of 1500 people.
