Manfred Wegener (born October 6, 1935 in Danzig ; † August 30, 1999 ) was a German writer of notebooks .

Wegener's family fled from Danzig to Denmark shortly before the end of the war and from there came to Heiligenhafen. After graduating from secondary school, Wegener traveled the world as a sailor. He also worked in deep-sea fishing, as a miner and in assembly construction, as an inland boatman and as a lock keeper for the Neckar lock Guttenbach . On the side he wrote: science fiction and crime novels, espionage stories and westerns. His first published novel was the future story "The Time Criminals" from the Mark Powers series .

From 1974 writing became his livelihood. He was one of the most productive and versatile novelists. Series and series like Bastei Espionage , Butler Parker , Commander Scott , Fledermaus Kriminal-Roman , Franco Solo , Gemini , Jerry Cotton , John Cameron , Kojak , Commissioner X , Lassiter , Mark Hellmann , Plutonium Police , Ren Dhark , Rex Corda - Der Retter Der Erde , Ronco , SF Science Fiction and Utopia Science Fiction contain (sometimes numerous) novels from his pen. From 1975 on, Wegener found a series with the sea ​​wolves in which he could bring his experience from seafaring to bear. In addition to 172 novels as an author, he also worked as an editor and lecturer.

As is usual in the industry, Wegener also wrote under numerous pseudonyms such as Calvin F. MacRoy , Fred McMason or Gregory Kern .

Wegener had been married since 1957 and had a son and a daughter.
