Commander Scott

Commander Scott - Agent der Erde (later Die Weltraum-Abenteuer des Agenten der Erde ) is a German booklet series, which was published in 42 editions from 1975 to 1976 by Bastei-Verlag . The publisher's pseudonym Gregory Kern was always given as the author .

The series consisting of independent single novels is based on the American series Cap Kennedy by EC Tubb , which was started as an attempt to establish the concept of the Perry Rhodan series on the US market. The series title of the English edition was FATE As Cap Kennedy only had 17 editions (published between 1973 and 1976), other editions were written by German authors, namely by Horst Pukallus , Manfred Wegener , Ronald M. Hahn , Mario Werder , Horst Gehrmann (HG Ewers) , Hans Peschke (Harvey Patton) and Hans Joachim Alpers . It is sometimes claimed that in addition to EC Tubb, Lin Carter also worked on the Cap Kennedy series, but this is not the case.

Up to issue 22 the series was called Commander Scott - Agent of the Earth , then Commander Scott - The Space Adventure of the Agent of the Earth . At the same time, the layout of the series was slightly modified. The issues appeared every 14 days.

Commander Scott is an Earth Defense agent. His missions are to track down and destroy hostile people and organizations. Scott is equipped with the skills of a prosecutor, judge and executioner in one person, his actions each end with the complete annihilation of the opponent. The series corresponds to a modernized and brutalized version of Captain Future . Although the German translation of the American series was radically defused and the original German editions were much more humane in terms of content, the series did not have any lasting success on the German market.
