The village extends in the extreme south-west of the department, on the northern edge of the Mance valley , at the foot of the Essart in the eastern foothills of the Langres plateau .

The area of the 3.19 km² municipal area covers a section of the Langres plateau northwest of the upper Saône valley . The southern boundary of the municipality runs near the Mance, which flows eastwards through an alluvial lowland around 1.5 kilometers wide . Immediately south of the Mance is the border with the Haute-Saône department . The floodplain lies at an average of 225 m and is mainly used for agriculture. From the course of the river, the community area extends northwards over the valley floodplain and a 100 m high steep slope to the adjacent high plateau, which reaches an average height of 320 m. To the northeast, above Pisseloup, is the Les Essarts plateau (343 m). The area extends further north to the Bois de Pisseloup forest . At 361 m, the highest point in Pisseloup is reached on this plateau. From a geological and tectonic point of view, the terrain consists of alternating layers of sandy, marly and calcareous sediments, which were mainly deposited during the Lias (Lower Jurassic).

history

The village of Pisseloup initially had no church and was part of the former village of Chaumondel on the southwest slope of the mountain Les Essards . The inhabitants gradually left Chaumondel and settled down in the valley in Pisseloup. In 1701 it was decided to build a church in Pisseloup as a branch of the church in Laferté .

Between 1972 and 1984, Pisseloup was part of the municipality of Laferté-sur-Amance together with the neighboring village of Velles .

Attractions

A nave and a bell tower were added to the village church of Saint-Ferréol-et-Saint-Ferjeux in Pisseloup in 1773, which was replaced in 1879 by the tower that still exists today.

Also worth seeing are a Calvaire in the village and a cross in the Chaumondel district.

The manor house in Pisseloup ( Château de Pisseloup ) was built in the 17th century. The associated dovecote was built in the form of a watchtower in 1879. The roof of the pigeon tower is covered with slate and is crowned with a zinc ball. A frequent visitor to the manor was Charles de Gaulle .
