geography

Sarrey is located around 24 kilometers southeast of the city of Chaumont in the east of the Haute-Marne department.

history

The mechanization of agriculture led to heavy emigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Sarrey was part of the Bailliage de Chaumont within the royal province of Champagne . The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Bourbonne. Also from 1793 to 2015 to the canton of Montigny (name from 1974: Val-de-Meuse ).
