Chauffourt is a French commune with 204 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Langres .

geography

Chauffourt is located around 27 kilometers southeast of the city of Chaumont in the south of the Haute-Marne department.

history

The mechanization of agriculture led to heavy emigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Chauffourt was historically part of the Baillage de Chaumont within the province of Champagne . The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Langres. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Neuilly l'Evêque and from 1801 to 2015 to the canton of Montigny (name from 1974: Val-de-Meuse ).
