history
A Roman path led through today's community. Settlement remains from Roman times and an excavated cemetery from the Merovingian period are evidence of early settlement. In the Middle Ages, the de Rose ruled over the community. The mechanization of agriculture led to heavy emigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Dammartin-sur-Meuse was historically part of the Bailliage de Langres within the province of Champagne . The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Bourbonne. Also from 1793 to 2015 to the canton of Montigny (name from 1974: Val-de-Meuse ). Between 1790 and 1794, the parish of Malroy was incorporated.
