Vesoul (German obsolete Wesel ) is a French commune in the Region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It is the capital ( prefecture ) of the Haute-Saône department .
geography
The city with 14,916 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located on the old railway line that runs from Paris via Troyes to Mulhouse and on to Basel . The national route N19 from Paris to Basel also runs via Vesoul.
The Durgeon , a tributary of the Saône , and the Colombine , which flows into the Durgeon at Vesoul, flow through Vesoul . To the west of the city, in the municipality of Vaivre-et-Montoille , lies the lake "Lac de Vesoul-Vaivre".
economy
Vesoul is home to one of the PSA automotive factories , which employs 4,500 people, making it one of the largest employers in the Haute-Saône department.
