Tromarey is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Tromarey is located at an altitude of 282 m above sea level, seven kilometers northwest of Marnay and about 26 kilometers west-northwest of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the south of the department, on a wide saddle in the southwestern foothills of the Monts de Gy, north of the Ognon valley.

The area of the 6.12 km² municipal area comprises a section of the gently undulating landscape between the valley plains of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. The central part of the area is taken up by the Tromarey saddle. It leads from the plateau of Cugney (on average at 260 m) in the north to the hollow of Hugier in the south. The area is mainly used for agriculture. In the west, the community soil extends to the heights of the Mont (298 m), in the east to the forest of the Bois de Cugney , which is one of the foothills of the Monts de Gy. At 329 m, the highest point in Tromarey is reached here. From a geological point of view, the terrain is made up of alternating layers of sandy, marly and calcareous layers from the Upper Jurassic and Tertiary periods . The entire area shows no surface watercourses.

The hamlet of Chancevigney (250 m) in the Hugier basin, which opens to the south, belongs to Tromarey . Neighboring communities of Tromarey are Cugney in the north, Avrigney-Virey in the east, Cult and Hugier in the south and Bonboillon in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Tromarey belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . Local rule had been held by the d'Andelot family from the early 15th century. Later the rule went to the Vaudrey. Together with Franche-Comté , Tromarey finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. The area changed in the early 19th century: in 1805 Chancevigney (1800: 88 inhabitants) was incorporated, in 1807 Virey also merged with Tromarey. However, Virey was raised again to an independent municipality in 1824.

Attractions

The Saint-Pierre church was rebuilt in the 18th century and has rich furnishings , including the stucco altar and numerous grave slabs.

Also worth seeing are a former mansion in the Spanish style and the lavoir (19th century) at the exit of the village to Cugney, which once served as a wash house and cattle trough.
