history

Numerous finds from the Gallo-Roman epoch, especially mosaics and coins, indicate an early settlement of the area. Oigney is mentioned for the first time in 1127. In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . The local rule was initially held by the Lords of Pesmes before it passed to the Barony of Rupt in 1386 . Together with Franche-Comté , Oigney finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today, Oigney is a member of the communauté de communes des Vertes Vallées, comprising eight localities .

Attractions

The Saint-Martin church originally dates from 1239, but was later modified several times. It houses rich furnishings , including the main altar (1747), paneling in the choir from 1708 and various paintings.

There are several 18th century calvaries in the municipality ; the one in front of the church shows parts of the passion story.

On the village square is the Lavoir Hôtel des Bavardes , which was once used as a wash house and cattle trough .
