The steep slopes are criss-crossed by limestone cliffs in various places. There are several caves here.

On the north side of the valley are the heights of the Charmont (357 m) and the Bois de la Craye . In the south lies the agriculturally used plateau of the Côte , on which the highest point of Dampvalley-lès-Colombe is reached at 378 m. The eastern boundary is marked by the Bois de Calmoutier .

history

The Colombine valley was probably settled in prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages Dampvalley belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . The lords of Montaigu held local rule. Towards the end of the Thirty Years War, the village was completely destroyed by the Turenne troops in 1644. Together with Franche-Comté , Dampvalley finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Today Dampvalley-lès-Colombe is a member of the community association Communauté de communes des Grands Bois, which comprises 12 localities .

The village church was rebuilt in the 19th century. To the south of the village is a pyramid-shaped building erected after a cholera epidemic and bearing a statue of the Vierge Immaculée (1856).
