From the course of the river, the community area extends northwards over the valley floodplain and a 100 m high steep slope to the adjacent high plateau, which reaches an average height of 320 m. At 367 m, the highest elevation of Betoncourt-sur-Mance is reached on this plateau. From a geological and tectonic point of view, the terrain consists of alternating layers of sandy, marly and calcareous sediments, which were mainly deposited during the Lias (Lower Jurassic).
