Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Neuvelle-lès-Cromary was mainly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. The hydropower of the Ruisseau de Malgérard was previously used to operate two mills. Today there are some local small businesses. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the larger towns in the area and in the Besançon agglomeration.

The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is close to the main road N57 that goes from Besançon to Vesoul . The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around 17 km away. Other road connections exist with Rioz, Traitiéfontaine, Rigney and Cromary.
