Mairie Saponcourt

Saponcourt is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Saponcourt lies at an altitude of 285 m above sea level, eleven kilometers northeast of Jussey and about 30 kilometers northwest of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The village extends in the northern part of the department, on a slope inclined slightly to the northwest, at the northern foot of Mont aux Pies , east of the Saône Valley.

The area of the 4.89 km² municipal area covers a section in the gently undulating landscape east of the upper Saône valley . The central part of the area is occupied by the Saponcourt plateau, which is an average of 280 m. It is mainly used for agriculture. In the north and west it is bounded by a dry valley , which topographically belongs to the catchment area of the Ruisseau de la Sacquelle . There are no above-ground running waters because the rainwater seeps into the porous subsoil. To the south, the municipal area extends to the wooded plateau of Mont aux Pies , on which the highest point of Saponcourt is reached at 348 m. The southeast boundary runs on the edge of the Grand Bois . From a geological and tectonic point of view, the terrain consists mainly of shell limestone from the Middle Triassic . Sandy-marl and calcareous sediments, which were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ) , also emerge in various places .

Neighboring municipalities of Saponcourt are Ormoy in the north, Polaincourt-et-Clairefontaine in the east, Saint-Rémy-en-Comté , Contréglise and Venisey in the south and Magny-lès-Jussey in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Saponcourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . Local rule was held by the Lords of Jonvelle . The place, then called Les Loges, was sacked during the Thirty Years War in 1637 and later rebuilt under the name Saponcourt-les-Loges. Together with Franche-Comté , the village finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. The municipality has been called Saponcourt since the end of the 18th century. Today Saponcourt is a member of the community association Communauté de communes Agir Ensemble, which comprises 13 localities .
