Together with Franche-Comté , Le Tremblois finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. The iron processing industry established itself here in the 19th century. Today Le Tremblois is a member of the communal association Communauté de communes du Val de Gray, which comprises 16 localities .

Iron processing was given up at the end of the 19th century. Today there are various local small businesses, including one in the wood industry. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is on the main D475 road from Gray to Dole . Another road connection is with Valay.
