The Johanniterkommende near Chantes also owned land in the village. Together with Franche-Comté , Vy finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Vy-le-Ferroux was the site of a blast furnace and a foundry in which the iron ore that was previously mined in the area was processed. Today, Vy-le-Ferroux is a member of the Communauté de communes des Combes, which comprises 22 villages .

Economy and Infrastructure

For a long time, Vy-le-Ferroux was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. The foundry was also important for economic life. Today there are some local small businesses. In the last few decades the village has transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the Vesoul agglomeration.

The place is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Scey-sur-Saône-et-Saint-Albin to Fretigney-et-Velloreille . Another road connection is with Raze.
