Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordier is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers is located at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, 5 km west of Montbozon and about 16 km south of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The double municipality extends in the valley of the Linotte north of the river valley of the Ognon , west of the forest height of the Mont d'Ormenans.

The area of ​​the municipal area of ​​9.34 km² covers a section of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north-west. The central part of the area is crossed in a north-south direction by the alluvial plain of the Linotte, which is 250 m on average and is usually around one kilometer wide. The river, which takes the Filaine from the right at Sorans-les-Cordiers , provides drainage to the Ognon. The valley shows a loose structure of arable and meadow land as well as smaller forest areas. The valley of the Linotte is flanked on both sides by predominantly wooded plateaus, which consist of limestone layers from the upper Jurassic period . In the east the area extends to the plateau des Mont d'Ormenans (345 m). To the west, the municipality extends over short side valleys of the Linotte up to the hill of Les Blanchard , on which the highest point of Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers is reached at 373 m.

The municipality consists of the following districts:

  • Roche-sur-Linotte (250 m) in the Linotte valley at the western foot of Mont d'Ormenans
  • Sorans-les-Cordiers (253 m) on the Linotte below the mouth of the Filaine
  • Les Blanchard (290 m), courtyard settlement in a clearing at the eastern foot of the height of the same name
  • Les Âges (265 m), farm settlement in a side valley of the Linotte

Neighboring communities of Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers are Vy-lès-Filain in the north, Fontenois-lès-Montbozon in the east, Ormenans and Loulans-Verchamp in the south and Villers-Pater in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages Roche-sur-Linotte and Sorans-les-Cordiers belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of ​​the Bailliage d'Amont . Local rule was incumbent on the Roche family, which has been documented since the 12th century. Together with Franche-Comté , both villages came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In 1808, Roche-sur-Linotte and Sorans-les-Cordiers merged to form what is now the twin municipality. Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers has been a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Montbozon, comprising 21 localities, since 2000 .

Attractions

In Roche-sur-Linotte there is the single-nave church, which was built in the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style. It has a statue of Saint Martin (15th century) and two altars from the 18th century. Remains of two medieval castles have been preserved. The Château de Roche-sur-Linotte, built in 1850, is located in a spacious park and is now a seminar center with a hotel. Attractions in Sorans-les-Cordiers include a chapel and a square tower.

With 73 inhabitants (2007) Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers is one of the smallest communities in the Haute-Saône department. Throughout the 20th century, the population was always between 70 and 120 people.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. Today there are also a few local small businesses, including a sawmill. Some workers are also commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The place is off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Loulans-Verchamp to Dampierre-sur-Linotte . Another road connection is with Filain.
