Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Rioz included the 27 municipalities of Aulx-lès-Cromary , Boulot , Boult , Bussières , Buthiers , Chambornay-lès-Bellevaux , Chaux-la-Lotière , Cirey , Cordonnet , Cromary , Fondremand , Hyet , La Malachère , Maizières , Montarlot-lès-Rioz , Neuvelle-lès-Cromary , Pennesières , Perrouse , Quenoche , Recologne-lès-Rioz , Rioz , Sorans-lès-Breurey , Traitiéfontaine , Trésilley , Vandelans , Villers-Bouton and Voray-sur-l'Ognon . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​234.65 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 7021.
