Loulans-Verchamp is a municipality in the French department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Loulans-Verchamp is located at an altitude of 254 m above sea level, five kilometers southwest of Montbozon and about 20 kilometers south of the city of Vesoul (as the crow flies). The village extends north of the Ognon , near the confluence of the Quenoche and Linotte, on the eastern edge of the groves of the Grands Bois .

The area of the municipal area of 8.16 km² includes a section of the gently undulating landscape between the river valleys of Ognon and Saône . The central part of the area is crossed in a north-south direction by the Linotte, which provides drainage to the Ognon. Near Loulans, it picks up the Quenoche from the west. The valleys of these rivers, which are around 200 to 500 m wide, are flanked on both sides by plateaus with an average of 280 m. These plateaus consist of limestone layers from the upper Jurassic period and are partly covered with arable land and meadow, partly with forest. The forests of the Grands Bois extend especially to the west. Here, at 297 m, the highest point in Loulans-Verchamp is reached. In the east the parish soil extends into the Bois Lajus. To the south, the community area extends with a narrow strip into the wide alluvial plain of the Ognon.

The municipality consists of the village of Loulans and the hamlet of Verchamp (235 m), which is located on the northern edge of the Ognon valley. Neighboring municipalities of Loulans-Verchamp are Roche-sur-Linotte-et-Sorans-les-Cordiers and Ormenans in the north, Montbozon and Maussans in the east, Larians-et-Munans , Flagey-Rigney , Germondans and Cenans in the south and Beaumotte-Aubertans and Villers-Pater in the west.

history

In the Middle Ages, Loulans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of the Bailliage d'Amont . The area was owned by Thibaud de Neufchâtel in the 12th century. Together with Franche-Comté , Loulans finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. The rule of Loulan was made a marquisate in 1728. In the 16th century a blast furnace was founded here, which formed the basis for the location of a foundry and a forge. The blast furnace ceased operations in the 19th century. With the opening of the railway line from Besançon to Lure , Loulans was connected to the French railway network at the end of the 19th century. Today, however, the line is closed.

In 1962, Loulans was officially renamed Loulans-les-Forges. Eight years later there was a change of area when the previously independent Verchamp was incorporated into Loulans-les-Forges. The new parish changed its name to Loulans-Verchamp in 1983. Since 2000 Loulans-Verchamp has been a member of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Montbozon, which comprises 21 localities .

Attractions

There are two mansions on the parish: the Château de Loulans in a French park and the Château de Verchamp, both of which date from the 18th century.
