Flagey-Rigney is a French commune of 112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

Flagey-Rigney is located at 247 m , about 25 kilometers northeast of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends on the edge of the valley of the Ognon opposite Munans, in the gently undulating landscape in the extreme north-west of the Doubs department.
The area of the 3.03 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Ognon Valley. The northern border runs along the Ognon, which flows here with large river loops through a flat valley that is around one kilometer wide. From the course of the river, the community area extends south over the wide floodplain to the adjacent high terrace , which consists of ice-age river deposits. The southern part of the municipality is taken up by the slightly undulating landscape, which is partly made up of arable and meadow land, partly with forest. At 282 m, the highest point in Flagey-Rigney is reached on a hill in the Bois de la Bussière .
Neighboring municipalities of Flagey-Rigney are Loulans-Verchamp and Larians-et-Munans in the north, Cendrey in the east, La Tour-de-Sçay in the south and Germondans in the west.

With 112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Flagey-Rigney is one of the smallest communities in the Doubs department. Throughout the 20th century, the population was always between 50 and 80 people.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Flagey-Rigney was predominantly a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.
The village is off the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Germondans to Cendrey. The closest connection to the A36 motorway is around 14 kilometers away.
