Vaudrivillers is a French commune with a population of 91 (as at 1st January 2017) in the Doubs department in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Vaudrivillers is located at 514 m , nine kilometers south of Baume-les-Dames and about 28 kilometers east of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The village extends in the Jura , in a slightly hollow position on the plateau at the north foot of the ridge of Grand Bois.
The area of the 3.65 km² municipality covers a section of the French Jura. The main part of the area is taken up by the plateau, which extends between the valley of the Cusancin and the Grand Bois, lies at an average of 500 m and is slightly undulating. It is mostly made up of arable and meadow land, but also shows some forest areas. The plateau has no above-ground watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the karstified subsoil. The Vaudrivillers basin runs out to the north in a dry valley that topographically belongs to the catchment area of the Cusancin. To the south, the community area extends over a relatively steep, wooded slope up to the height of the Grand Bois, where the highest point of Vaudrivillers is reached at 660 m.
Neighboring communities of Vaudrivillers are Montivernage in the north, Lanans in the east, Courtetain-et-Salans in the south and Passavant in the west.
history
In the Middle Ages, Vaudrivillers belonged to the Cusance domain. Together with Franche-Comté , the village came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
Attractions
The village church of Saint-Pierre in Vaudrivillers dates from the late 18th century.

With 91 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Vaudrivillers is one of the smallest municipalities in the Doubs department. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (96 people were counted in 1891), slight population growth has been recorded again since the mid-1970s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Vaudrivillers was primarily a village characterized by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now some local small businesses, including a company that makes glasses. Many employed people are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area or in the Besançon agglomeration.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares on a departmental road that leads from Besançon to Sancey-le-Grand .
