history

Châtillon Castle was founded at the beginning of the 13th century. It formed the center of a rule that belonged to a sideline of the lords of La Roche-sur-l'Ognon. When Étienne de Cicon married Guyotte de Vellefaux in 1248, he added Guyotte to her name in honor of the castle. Together with Franche-Comté , Châtillon-Guyotte finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.

Economy and Infrastructure

Until well into the 20th century, Châtillon-Guyotte was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding) and forestry. In addition, there are now various local small businesses. In the meantime, the village has also turned into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who go to work in the Besançon agglomeration.

The village is well developed in terms of traffic. It is located near the departmental road that leads from Besançon to Rougemont . The closest connection to the A36 motorway , which crosses the municipality, is around three kilometers away. Further road connections exist with Marchaux and Roulans .
